Aviation Enthusiasts Flock to the Saudi General Aviation Airshow “Sand & Fun 2024” Marking an Exceptional Conclusion to a Unique Event in Riyadh

The “the Saudi General Aviation Airshow - Sand & Fun 2024” has successfully concluded its spectacular five-day program at Thumama Airport in Riyadh, solidifying its position as the premier general aviation event in the Middle East. Organized by the Saudi Aviation Club (SAC), this year’s event achieved record-breaking attendance, with tickets selling out entirely by the fourth day. This unprecedented popularity underscores its significance to both local and international general aviation professionals as well as the broader community.

On this occasion, the Saudi Aviation Club (SAC) extends its deepest gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for their generous support and trust in SAC to organize the Saudi General Aviation Airshow “Sand & Fun 2024.”

SAC also expresses its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh, for his kind patronage of the event. Furthermore, SAC extends its gratitude to the event’s partners and sponsors, whose contributions made this edition truly exceptional. The event was enriched by dazzling aerial and entertainment displays while raising awareness about the services offered by partners to the attendees of this distinguished event.

The airshow was inaugurated on Tuesday, November 19, by His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz - Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Founder and Chairman of the Saudi Aviation Club - , on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh. The event began with a breathtaking aerial display by the Saudi Hawks team and continued for five days, concluding on Saturday, November 23.

The airshow attracted over 113,000 visitors from across Saudi Arabia and around the globe, including industry leaders, aviation enthusiasts, and families. Riyadh’s skies became a stage for awe-inspiring aerial performances by world-class teams such as the Saudi Hawks and the Phoenix team, whose precise demonstrations and dynamic maneuvers left audiences in awe. The “Sky Ventures” aerial showcase further highlighted advanced aviation capabilities, celebrating the innovation, skills, and artistry at the core of the aviation world.

On the ground, the event served as a vibrant hub for collaboration and knowledge exchange. The “Hangar Talks” program featured panel discussions led by prominent experts, addressing critical topics such as aviation safety, the future of training and artificial intelligence, and pilot experiences, offering valuable insights into the future of the aviation sector. Simultaneously, the Saudi Aviation Club hosted the 118th General Assembly of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), where global specialists convened to explore the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the field.
The event also provided attendees with a wide range of interactive and educational experiences. Static displays of advanced military and civilian aircraft allowed visitors to explore them up close. Interactive activities, such as virtual skydiving, drone demonstrations, and model aircraft experiences, captivated families and aviation enthusiasts alike. The “Avitainment Zone,” blending education with entertainment, inspired the next generation of aviation enthusiasts through hands-on workshops and simulation experiences designed to spark curiosity and passion for aviation.
